Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Su…

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007): The Fantastic Four learn that they aren’t the only super-powered beings in the universe when they square off against the powerful Silver Surfer and the planet-eating Galactus.

I don’t know why I keep watching these kinds of movies, I guess the comic fan in me wants to know about them.

This was again a very bad comic book movie, striking a bad balance between comedy, action and drama. The plot was inspired by a classic story from the comics, however they took out the ending of that story and put… nothing in the movie. Because nothing happens. Silver Surfer just goes up in space and does… what? Why didn’t he do it before?

The dialogue is even worse though. The comedic lines are not funny, the exposition dialogues are confusing and pointless. The scenes that are supposed to be touching are totally void of emotions.

Bad dialogues can also bring to bad performances, in this case I didn’t like any of their performances or characterization. Like why is Sue so selfish that she would put the entire earth at risk just for her wedding?

Even the action scenes were not that good. Silver Surfer looked cool, but they got to him so easily and he seemed more of a weapon that a living being. The switching of powers was a nice plot device to show them in different aspects, but it wasn’t well explained. The fantasticar wasn’t that fantastic at all.

Just a bad comic book movie, to be forgotten.
